What is National Grants Conference?

If you watch late-night TV or infomercials, you may have seen advertising for an organization known as the National Grants Conference.  The National Grants Conference (NGC) runs television and radio commercials to promote seminars that are held in various cities across the country.  Before you attend an NGC event, you should know that this organization is widely recognized as a scam.

The seminars that NGC advertises are free to the general public.  At the seminars, the organization speaks about the fact that there are billions of dollars in government grants available for those who know how to get them.  They walk participants through the process of researching and applying for grants and make it seem as if this process is impossible for the average citizen to complete without the help of the National Grants Conference.

Once the NGC has sold participants on the difficulty of obtaining a grant, they ask for a payment of around $1,000.  They claim that the money is used to access exclusive grant information and to match participants with grants that meet their specific needs.  They also claim that the money helps walk individuals through the grant application and documentation process.  The payment does not, however, ensure the receipt of a grant. 

You should not, under any circumstances, pay the NGC any money.  Do a quick search online for National Grants Conference to read the testimonials of hundreds of Americans who have lost money to this organization and received nothing in return.  The Federal Trade Commission has even issued a statement warning Americans to never pay any sort of fee in order to obtain a government grant.

Instead of depending on an unrepeatable organization such as the National Grants Conference, consider researching and applying for grants on your own.  The internet has made grant information readily available to all citizens.  The best resource for government grant information is www.grants.gov.  This website houses a comprehensive list of all federally available grants and has a search engine that allows you to search for grants that meet your particular needs.

Once you find grants, you will need to fill out applications.  Despite the fact that the NGC makes grant applications seem difficult, most applications are quite reasonable.  Depending on which grant you are applying for, you will need to provide personal information, financial history and a description of why you are seeking the grant.

Be smart and resourceful, and you can obtain a grant without being the victim of a scam.
